DONNA JONES

Soul, Blues, and Jazz
from the Pacific Northwest

“When words fail, music speaks.”

Donna Jones is a Portland-based singer whose soulful sound is a testament to her deep love for music and its power to connect. Though she began her solo singing career later in life, at 55, Donna quickly became the lead vocalist of the band Donna Jones and the Delegation, an experience that felt both organic and perfectly timed. Drawing inspiration from a childhood surrounded by the timeless records of Nat King Cole, Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, and other jazz and blues legends, Donna infuses her performances with a unique blend of sultriness, authenticity, and joy.

Her vocal journey began in gospel church choirs and later expanded into musical theater with notable roles in productions like The Wiz and Who I Am Celebrating Me. Though she is not formally trained, Donna's raw, soulful delivery resonates with audiences, particularly through her powerful renditions of jazz, blues, and soul classics. She considers her sound “jazz-adjacent,” capturing the essence of traditional jazz while bringing her own touch of warmth and humanity to every note.

Now living her dream, Donna’s motto is simple: “I sing to fill my cup in hopes it spills over to you.” Follow her musical journey on Instagram @donnajonesmusicpdx
